22 September 2011 Will St. Petersburg become a global innovation center?

You will able to answer this question after visiting the exposition of the XV jubilee International Forum “Russian Industrialist”  and  St. Petersburg Innovative Forum , which will take place on September 28 – October 1, 2011 at “LENEXPO” exhibition and congress center. 

This year the exposition will demonstrate field and cluster division. 10 St. Petersburg clusters will be introduced to public. The traditional participants are the Association of auto components manufactures, radio-electronics cluster, machine-engineering and metal processing cluster. This year Industrial Forum will introduce 5 new clusters: pharmaceutical, shipbuilding, optoelectronics, aerospace equipment, subway and railway clusters. 

The exposition of machine engineering and metal processing department will expose the new projects for the city’s housing services and competency centers.

“Leninets” Holding will represent radio-electronics segment. “Leninets” enterprises designs systems of automatic navigation for water, air crafts and railways.

The latest achievements of optoelectronics will be demonstrated for the first time this year. The new cluster significantly contributes to the development of optical industry in all spheres: from students training programs to optics manufacturing. The cluster will be represented by St. Petersburg University of IT, Mechanics and Optics, “Vavilov Corporation”, Leningrad Optic and Mechanics Association, Scientific and Research Institute of Optic Materials.

Besides, the exposition of 2011 is enriched with the new pharmaceutical cluster, which should control the price policy and develop Russian pharmaceutical market, create new job vacancies and support city’s export potential.  Almost every cluster’s project has research department aimed at developing new drugs. Forum’s exposition will gather 12 scientific and research enterprises – cluster members, which will demonstrate their latest achievements.

The innovative potential of St. Petersburg makes the city included into the group of three largest Russian innovative centers. Innovative development is one of the priorities of the City’s strategy till the year 2025. In 2009 the Government of St. Petersburg approved the new policy of innovative development for the period of 2009-2011.
